Lennox 51M32 with zone control to CT30

trying to install the CT30..Heat pump with Aux heat and A/C. right now the current lennox thermostat 51M32 has the following wires installed and
Contact/ Color
R- Red Wire
G- Green Wire
Y1- Yellow
W1- White
C- Black

now with CT30 installed the system does not switch to heat mode, just stays in a/c..its not switching over and as i understand i needs a Orange wire to do so but no orange wire on the old thermostat, wire is there but not hooked.

Went upstairs and checked out the zone control. EWC NCM-300
Zone 1 TStat
C-black
w- white
y-yellow
r-red
g-green

Zone 2 TStsat
C-Black
W-White
Y-Yellow
R- Red
G-Green

on the System side of zone control
there is an Orange wire coming from outside unit but no orange wire from zone control to Thermostats..so how can the system change with out the O wire..Looks like to me i have been running Aux heat to heat the house as primary heat and the heat pump never worked...

This is a 6 yr old house and this is original wires and wired that way.
Can i just run a jumper wire from the TStats to the system side O wire?

Be sure you have a heat pump, look on the outside compressor and the inside air handler. If you do, than your evaluation is probably true, the heat pump has only been used for cool. Also, a heat pump usually does not use W, W2 on the thermostat is aux heat. You will need an O changeover wire separete for each thermostats to the zone controller as one room may call for heat and another call for cool. When that happens one of them takes precedence until the other is through; the controller needs that information. Check your manual for the controller.

yes it a heat pump..13HPD-036-230-01 we do have aux heat..i was told it was a 2 stage heat 1 stage cool.. i checked the outdoor unit and orange is wired..

so can i just install a jumper wire for orange wire? i have orange in the attic going to outdoor unit, also have orange by the tStats but not connected so i would hook up the orange on the TStats and run a jumper around the zone controller to orange going to outdoor unit?

i looked up the install manual for the outdoor unit. the wiring diagram shows all the wires i have connected, wired correctly..It also shows an orange wire going from TStat to outdoor unit not going to air handler or zone control...

going to install a jumper..

Well hooked up jumper wire, turned down system on and heat pump line(big one) was getting hotter, went upstairs into air handler line was getting hot checked air temp coming out of vent cold..

Turned on the upstairs system that still has the OLD thermostat..no orange wire but the zone control has LEDS that signal you what is on.Led 5: W2/EM( is emergency heat/ aux heat) Led 7 states : w1/ rev valve ( indicates its in first stage heating) Turned on to heat fans came one led 7 was on, line from heat pump was heating up, cold air was coming of of upstairs vent waited a few mins cause i know that system works. after a few mins air was getting hot checked the zone control and led 5&7 where on, was using secondary heat and was stating it was using primary heat also..

now I'm really confused, the heat pump is working but no hot air is coming out the air handler for the downstairs system. the upstairs system with heat pump on no hot air until it goes into secondary heat. isn't aux/secondary heat for extreme temps when the heat pump just can't handle the load outside temp below 45 deg or around there?

Todays temp was 75 deg, i tested system going up to 85 degs,

There is no color code for any HVAC wiring much less the thermostat. What is the model number of your HVAC not your old thermostat. Sounds like you are running the compressor for cooling and adding aux heat; hence it comes on cool and slowly switches to heat; both may be on at the same time. Disconnect the W and see if you ever get heat. The heat pump should give you heat without the aux connected.

Another test, turn off the thermostat and manually turn on the fan. Then connect RH to W and see if you get heat. If you do, the W is not changeover but just electric heat as the compressor is not running. I would bet you do not have a heat pump, but an air conditioner and an electric heater; prove me wrong, look for a description of the HVAC on the compressor and on the air handler; if it is a heat pump it will say so and give you the model number.
