3M-30 AUX HEAT PUMP on display

Postby blakemw » Tue Feb 14, 2012 7:19 pm

I installed the 3m-30 yesterday and the display has "AUX HEAT PUMP" on it. I am assuming this means my electric bill is skyrocketing. I checked the wiring (5 wire heat pump w/ aux heat) and checked my settings, Type HP and Source ELECTRIC. I tried option A and b on the HVAC SET UP screen. The heat works and runs by what I have programmed, but I can not figure out how to get the AUX HEAT PUMP to just be HEAT PUMP. I have swapped around the DIFF and SWING settings with no change. When I go into TEMPORARY menu and change the temperature, then select HOME, the words HEAT PUMP flashes but not AUX. When I toggle the EMER/OFF switch to EMER, the display just says AUX, in OFF it says AUX HEAT PUMP. So question is am I running 24x7 in AUX HEAT PUMP with high power bill or am I running 24x7 efficiently w/ HEAT PUMP only? I've called the tech support number several times, and each time i am asked to leave a message. No one has called me yet! Thanks.

You jumped to conclusions. The words AUX, HEAT, and PUMP displays how you did the HVAC setup, not what is running. When the heat pump is running, the words heat and pump will be blinking (if you are on the home screen and when the back light is on).

The aux will run and blink with the pump if your target is above the DIFF. So to test just the pump, put the target below the diff and just the pump will run and maintain the target. Example: Diff at 2F set target 1F or 2F above room temperature

The aux will run by itself if you are in EMER.
