Loss of heat

Postby Naplescondo » Fri Feb 17, 2012 6:59 pm

Hello,I just installed my ;Filtrete 50 today. I have a Bryant heat pump and installed the W, G, R and Y wires as were in the old thermostat. There also was a blue wire in the C position that I hooked up to the C terminal on the new thermostat. In testing the system , I am getting cooling no problem but am not getting heat. In the heat mode, cool air continues to flow. The R and W wires are both related to heat functions and they are both connected as they were. Can someone give me some help so that I can get my heat flowing. I have tried both heat mode and auxiliary .

Thank you.

There does not appear to be a changover wire; cool to heat etc (O or B). Does your heat pump use an outside air heat exchanger with the big fan or do you have a water well for the outside heat exchanger.

Standard air heat exchanger heat pump wiring:

R to RH and RC connected together for 24VAC power heat and power cool
Y to Y for compressor
G to G for fan
W or W2 to W2 for aux heat if you have it. (On a heat pump, if there is a W, do not connect it to W)
O to O for changeover from cool to heat
C to C for 24VAC common

Check at the inside heat exchanger where the thermostat cable connects and match the letters there to the thermostat letters.
