3M22 Wiring Issue

Postby Twitchell » Fri Feb 24, 2012 11:02 am

I have an American Standard Freedom 90 Single Stage Unit. It is a 2 zone system. I am changing out the current thermostats for the 3M22 unts and the wiring on the current units are as follows:

Downstairs:
White wire to W
Yellow Wire to Y
Blue Wire to B
Orange Wire to O
Green Wire to G
Red Wire to RH (there is a metal bridge between RH & RC)

Upstairs:
White Wire to W
Green Wire to Y
Red Wire to RH (there is a metal bridge between RH & RC)

How do I connect the new thermostats? The downstairs I assume I match up all the colors the same as above, but how do I bridge the RH & the RC? Does jumper #4 take care of that?

How do I connect the upstairs? DO I keep the wires the same and again how do I bridge the RH to the RC?

Thank you,

Jim

Yes to all, jumper 4 connects the RH (power heat) and RC (power cool). On the main unit, both O and B are used. The warning in the manual refers to not using both O and B if it is a heat pump.

As for the colors, there is no color code, match letter to letter. Sometimes the color matches the letter but norally do not count on it.
