Fan programable

Postby sharktripdan » Fri Nov 19, 2010 1:47 pm

I would like to be able to have the fan available to program.
I like to have it on all the time when I'm home to even out the temperature and when I set it back when I'm not home I'd prefer to save the power

I'll second that. Being able to control the fan based on a schedule would be nice.

Me too. It really helps keep the temp in the house balanced.

I'd like to see this implemented as well. I noticed the CT80 has an option where one can set the fan to come one for ~10 minutes once per hour. It would be great to see this added. Thanks for your consideration!

Yes, I use the auto fan switching when programming my Honeywell T8602s. Not having it on your stats is a major problem for me. For example even if the system is set OFF (No heat or a/c), the fan will start at 5 PM and run until 8 AM. Then the program shuts off the fan from 8 AM to 5 PM. On weekends I run the fan all the time. I do not want to run the fan 24x7.

And why not change the 9 minutes once per hour to a variable setting 0-60 minutes per hour?

I agree, I would like to control the fan based on a schedule also. It would help stabilize the room temperature without the cost of running the heat or the air.

I agree with the other posts. The way my home is setup, we have found that it is much more efficient to let the fan circulate the air in the bedrooms from our upstairs unit at night, then to set the thermostat to accomodate the differences in temperature between the hallway and the bedrooms. Automating this process would let me run the thermostat completely hands-off. Right now I still have to remember to set the fan at night and again in the morning.

I agree. This is one of the features that is holding me back from making a purchase, at this time. There are others that offer, at a competitive price point.

Me too, independent fan scheduling on my 3M50 would be awesome.

I'll add a variation I think would be more useful for me at least - "continue to run fan for N minutes". So after it reaches the target temp, it would continue to run the fan for N minutes.

The idea being that typically that the heat isn't immediately distributed when the heat runs so you have hot and cold spots. Would be great to run just the fan for a period of time to redistribute the air (and I don't want it to run all day).
