New firmware features?

Re: New firmware features?

Mine is 1.04.77. The weird thing about this version ( or the portal ) is that the button for "update firmware" sometimes goes from gray to black, allows me to download and send firmware, but never updates it past 1.04.77. is there a bug with how the server side software checks for firmware revisions?

Out of curiosity, where's the button to "update firmware"? Is that just in the iPhone app, or somewhere in the radiothermostat.com web portal? (I can't find it in mine)

One of my thermostats got bumped to 1.04.77 last night. The other two are at 1.04.73 still. They definitely seem to roll out new firmware progressively.

I was stuck on 1.04.64 for the longest time. I finally emailed support asking for updated firmware and an hour later had 1.04.75 in my email. Updated all three 3M-50s to the new firmware. This was back on Monday. Just noticed last night all three are now on 1.04.77. Never got an email, but glad I got the update!

Only new feature I've noticed so far with new firmware version 1.04.77:
There's a new '/remote_temp' API resource that allows both GET and POST queries, and is listed in the '/tstat_help' output. A GET query to '/remote_temp' outputs a single element: 'rem_mode', which for my thermostat shows a value of '0'.

Remote_temp will allow you to use two thermostats in tandem. Imagine your thermostat on the wall is like mine (above a dimmer). This heats up the thermostat, so you can use a second thermostat where we are (on the couch) and use the remote_temp API to send the temp at the couch to the thermostat on the wall. The thermostat on the wall will use what ever value that is sent to it to act on.

So please tell us how to use this new, remote_temp feature.

For example, how do we designate which thermostat is the talker and which is the listener? In our usage of 3m50s, we have a network of thermostats such that several thermostats are within wireless range of each other. But there is a particular pair of tstats that we want to operate as you described because they are located within the same large room and each controls a separate HVAC system. Because of the physical arrangement of the ductwork, which we are not able to change, there is considerable interaction between the two units. We would love to try this new remote_temp mode and have one tstat control both HVAC units.

So if this new feature is ready for prime time usage, we are ready to try it.

Thanks, Fred

And while we're at it, how about some docs for the new .81 API:

/tstat/air_baffle
/tstat/dehumidifier
/tstat/ext_dehumidifier
/tstat/differential
/tstat/differential/cool
/tstat/differential/heat
/tstat/fan_ctime
/tstat/hvac_recovery
/tstat/save_energy
/tstat/simple_mode
/tstat/lock
/tstat/night_light
/tstat/stage_delay
/tstat/time/format
/tstat/tswing
/tstat/tmode

I'm assuming most of these only work with the CT-80 (or a yet to be announced product) as on my thermostat I get "-1" values in most of the responses.
