3M50 Won't go into provisioning mode

Postby Idyllwildjoe » Mon Apr 09, 2012 10:16 am

My thermostat is installed with a millivolt 2 wire system and 24VAC transformer; voltage at the thermostat tests as it should. Thermostat operates properly, but I am unable to get radio tower, "mate" on screen or any lights. I have repeatedly button and hard reset. the day of the week on the home screen is solid, not flashing. What's next? ..................Joe

Press the tiny Reset button under the top cover of your thermostat. If the blinking light is green, your thermostat is functioning correctly with your home network. If the blinking light is yellow, you may have to reconnect your thermostat to your router which is also called provisioning. A yellow blinking light means that the thermostat is broadcasting to your router.

To re-provision: If you are using a Windows wi-fi enabled computer, download and install the program from Setyourthermostat.com to your desktop. Connect to your thermostat and open the program. The program will lead you through provisioning and registration.

If you do not see a yellow blinking light, press the Menu button, then press and hold your finger against the blank space in the middle of the screen till the screen changes, press the Up Arrow icon once (you’ll see a countdown). Press the Down Arrow icon once. Press the House twice to return to the main screen. The yellow light should be blinking now.

Thanks, Renata! I don't have (and have never had) any lights at all, green, red or yellow. I'll try your hard reset procedure and see if it gets me the blinking yellow. I gather that I should do this with the radio module out of the unit.

Provisioning is connecting the radio to the wi fi, the radio must be in the thermostat to be powered and then to be provisioned; the radio does not run out of the thermostat. The thermostat must have 24VAC beteen the C and the RH terminals with or without the heat running to run.

Thanks, Blaine, for the reply. My thermostat has 24VAC at the C and RH terminals, functions properly as a thermostat, stays working when a battery is removed. The problem is that I don't have a blinking yellow light, or any color light, no ratio tower on the display, and the radio element is not broadcasting any SSID. In short, the radio part of the product appears inop. Renata suggests a hard reset to see if the blinking yellow appears. I"ll try that. Any other suggestions?

Is the day-of-the-week flashing directly below the temperature reading in the center of the thermostat's screen? If so, your thermostat is in simple mode and cannot provision, connect to the internet, or go into provision mode. To put the thermostat back into normal mode, press and hold the PROG button for approximately 12 seconds, the day-of-the-week flashing below the temperature reading is your indication that your attempt to put the thermostat into normal mode was successful.

i'm having the same problem with a recent purchase of two C1500e. It's a fairly straight forward 4 wire (W, Y, G, RC/RH) set up with no heat pump or anything fancy.

I've reset it a few times and at no point (whether I push mate twice or otherwise) do I get any flashing lights.

Any suggestions? I've inserted the USNAP module....

thanks.

Your missing the wire to power the radio. You have to have the thermostat's C terminal connected to the HVAC C terminal, that requirement is on the package and in the manual.

Or get an 18VAC adapter and connect one of its wires to the thermostat's C terminal and the other adapter wire to the thermostats RH terminal (that puts 2 wires on RH which is fine).
