Another web front end - Thermo

Another web front end - Thermo

Postby fecund » Sat Apr 14, 2012 3:40 pm

I have about 5 hours of coding time into this and just wanted to share my progress thus far. The picture below only shows the v1.0 of the reporting gui and the static image doesn't do it justice. You can zoom in and out of the graph, remove data points, show the setpoints, or even change the timeframes all without page reloading. The cost figures are real and as exact as I'd think you could get.

The system runs via php/mysql.

The system is very lean(only about 400 lines of code for everything) and very fast.

I'm still working on it really, but wouldn't mind other testers. Big thing for me was to have 30 days worth of data to really test it out before going beta.

Here is the raw interface I did. I put it in a JSFiddle so people can check it out.

http://jsfiddle.net/KYvDf/

The styling is pure CSS and someone could change the look entirely. There are arrows in the upper right, just dont have those images available to JSFilddel.

I left out the jQuery part that lets you click on the events to actually control the thermostat. I use a php script to get around XHR restrictions, but if those can be lifted by the server itself it would be possible to have the interface be pure Javascript/HTML/CSS.

So far I've tested on ipad, android, chrome, and firefox.

here is a slightly more interactive version, you can click on the red and blue.

Might give you more of an idea how it works.

I'd edit the old post, but I'm still being moderated it seems.

I like it a lot, especially with the history. The granular graphing makes an impact on how much energy is being consumed.

I certainly could use google charts, but it's not a local service. Though easy to use its simply not as powerful as highcharts. Let me see if I can capture some data and make another JSFiddle so you can see how the zooming and other stuff works.

Looks great! I would be very interested it testing it out. Out of curiosity, what are you using to pull outside temp data?
